The following services are available throughout the four local shires of Horsham Rural City Council, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack.
Friendly Visiting Service
Formerly known as Do Care, the friendly visiting service matches a volunteer visitor with an older person within their own home with a view to establishing a mutual friendship.
Telelink Program
Telelink enables socially isolated frail aged and disabled persons to form friendships via a telephone link. Once a week, up to eight people can talk together as a group. Sessions can last for up to forty five minutes.
Volunteer Transport Program
The Volunteer Transport Program provides access to transport for the frail aged, elderly and socially isolated people in the community who need to access a specialist appointment in another town. Wimmera Volunteers have a network of volunteer drivers throughout the region who make this program possible.
Support For Carers Program – Flexible Respite Service
The Support for Carers Program (Flexible Respite Service) is available to carers of people aged 65 and over living in the Wimmera Region. The aim of the program is to offer support for the carer and the person they care for by providing the carer with respite from the caring role.
Volunteers are asked to attend information sessions relevant to the program you wish to volunteer for. Ongoing support is provided.
