Wimmera Volunteers was
established in 1984, to provide a number of services for the aged and people
with a disability who are house bound or isolated due to frailty, lack of
confidence, geographic or other factors. We assist not for profit organisations in setting up volunteer programs, with advice on volunteer insurance, training and policy details. We always welcome anybody interested in volunteering and we can refer you to an area of interest to you. Wimmera Volunteers aims to provide a volunteer resource and information referral point for the Wimmera Region. To identify unmet needs within communities and seek to address those needs and to continue to act as auspicing body to provide a community support service to the Wimmera area. If you are interested in volunteering, call into our office, give us a call any time to arrange an appointment to talk over your volunteering options. Telephone : 03 5382 5607

INTRODUCING THE WIMMERA CANCER TRANSPORT PILOT PROJECT
A TRANSPORT ASSISTANCE
PROGRAM
In response to the concerns regarding
travel costs incurred by persons travelling to
attend their medical oncology
appointments and chemotherapy related treatment based at Wimmera Health Care
Group,
the Grampians Integrated Cancer Service,
and Wimmera Volunteers have combined resources to pilot a travel reimbursement
project.
The Wimmera Cancer Transport Pilot
Project will assist in partially meeting costs incurred by persons not eligible
for other travel reimbursement programs. It will provide financial
reimbursement for travel that is over 20 kilometres, but less than 100
kilometres (one way), to medical oncology appointments or chemotherapy treatment
based at the Wimmera Health Care Group.
The project will also assist in
documenting the gaps in travel assistance programs currently in place. If
you, or someone you know is accessing oncology appointments at Wimmera
Healthcare Group, and could assist with this pilot, more information is
available from your Medical Oncologist, or call Kylie Dare at Wimmera Volunteers
